I didn't intend to write this. Given the fact that I hate the place they have taken us, spending more time there seems like the most gratuitous sort of misery, but some of the images in this story grabbed hold of me and wouldn't let go until I wrote them down.
The title is from a poem by Pablo Neruda, who might just be the king of angst. If you want to read it, it can be found by searching under its title, which is the same as the title of this story.
